To clarify, I didn't mean to be snarky there: My point was that my understanding is that the word 'holocaust' predates WWII by ... at least centuries. Incidentally, ChatGPT says: 'The word "Holocaust" generally refers to the genocide of six million Jews by the Nazis during World War II. However, it is also used more broadly to describe the systematic persecution and murder of other groups by the Nazis, including Romani people, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, political dissidents, and others.'🤷♀

Slightly mind-blown: I've always understood the word 'Holocaust' -- in reference to WWII -- as referring to ALL victims of / people wronged by Naziism (whereas the word 'Shoah' specifically refers to the anti-Semitic aspects / murder and mistreatment of Jews) ... but it sounds like you're indicating that these words are equivalent?

@arnodobler1096 Pretty sure that 'holocaust' is ultimately Greek 😜

I'd be curious to know how this is changing / will change as there are fewer (and eventually -- probably soon -- *no*) more living perpetrators / survivors ...
