I've been meaning to learn Ed -- just for history -- and now I'll do it in Bram's memory by way of understanding Vi and Vim better. We've lost a man who's fairly-deeply reprogrammed the brains of many of us ... and made us unable + unwilling to use all the other (obviously-inferior) text editors.

On Debian-based systems, looks like `sh` symlinks to `dash` (Tested on Debian, Mint, and Raspbian.).

These are hilarious / wonderful ... I probably wouldn't wear one, but I'm glad that they're out there.

Congrats on your new life as Derk! ;P

All the tech looks at least 10 years out-of-date, given that this thing was designed in the 1970s. Retronerds: Does that feel about right?

You know what has a 'no-nonsense interface'? Vim ... and if that has too many features, there are Vi and Ed. No Google adware, no web-browser/GUI bloat.

That guy having an orgasm about the placement of the cornflake, though ...

Okay, that people are querying a nuclear reactor with a 1960s / Apollo-DSKY-style 'user interface' is equally disturbing.

@alexhajnal107 Some glorious day, we'll be rid of humans entirely. Just us lizards + AGI. It'll be glorious.

@ironhead2008 Formal proof of correctness seems significantly more important. A higher-level, referentially-transparent language would be significantly easier to prove anything about ... and -- because of better abstraction capabilities -- more tractable to make any mathematically-rigorous claims about.

@ironhead2008 For instance: 'I wrote my assembly code reaaal carefully.' is an infinitely-less-convincing argument that deadlock is impossible than a proof in a formal logic.

Strategic incompetence is the best -- particularly if others can't quite tell whether you're doing it intentionally.

Might we exist because we're the DNA-based backup system for super-intelligent aliens that visited Earth in the distant past? I'm not saying it was aliens ... but you goddamned well know it was mf'ing aliens.
