Please get rid of the sunglasses. This is my third and last comment on the topic. For background, I'm an attorney and I've helped people with public speaking. The sunglasses detract from your message for reasons explained below. A basic rule or tenet of rhetoric and persuasiveness requires the speaker to connect with their audience. Reflective sunglasses prevent that personal connection because it puts you at a remove. They create distance and are a barrier. In order to be at your most persuasive, the audience needs to see your eyes, to see emotion and truth on your face. Big reflective sunglasses prevent that. You're a good speaker, erudite and well spoken. You choose your words well. But the reflective sunglasses are not serving you. I don't know if you think they set a vibe for your target audience, but if you are looking to connect with anyone who is not a young male they are doing more harm than good. Edit: I had asked in prior comments if there was a vision issue and nobody spoke up. If indeed this is the reason for the reflective sunglasses, disregard everything above. ** For those of you who feel the need to respond with an attack, what is the problem here? I'm offering suggestions to increase his audience. How does that make me the enemy in your view?

@SWTmel Sure but my interest is in promoting what he says and getting it out to more people. We need more voices especially from younger black men. If there's a reason for the sunglasses, if he has a problem with his vision then of course continue wearing them. But this is the third or fourth video of his where he is sitting in a car with the same sunglasses on. I think he thinks it sets a cool vibe. It really doesn't though and to my view it detracts from the power of the video and the message. Thank you for being courteous. We can disagree on something and still understand that we're on the same side.

@juliamckenzie4510 He's sitting in a car. I've asked in prior comments if there is a vision issue and no one has spoken up. Tone it down please, thanks. He does not need you to ride to his defense. Why are you writing as though he needs to be defended? How am I the enemy for wanting to increase his visibility? Take it down a few notches. There was nothing in my comment that was unpolite or unkind. I don't disagree with the content, to the contrary I think it's important and I want him to be able to reach people. Reflective sunglasses detract from the message as I've explained above.

I'm completely on board for all of this except for the part where you say that Pizza Hut makes good pizza. None of these chains make good pizza, all of their pizza is bad and inedible to my view. Other than that, spot on, you nailed it!

@SWTmel did you see some of the other responses? Quite a few attacks. It's as though people think I'm the enemy because I'm trying to make suggestions to increase his audience. I don't understand that. I don't think there's anything unkind or nasty in my comment. I don't think he is vision impaired either, and I don't think he's driving because he's making a video and that would not be responsible. I could be wrong but I think it's a style choice and that's why I made a comment about it.

Please ditch the reflective sunglasses. You may think you're setting a vibe and that it looks cool and edgy but it doesn't. Instead it detracts from your message for reasons I'll explain. Maybe your target audience thinks it's cool and are more likely to listen to a dude in reflective glasses sitting in a car? I'm not sure that's the case but even if it is there are some precepts of psychology and rhetoric; make eye contact with your audience, persuade them with your words and affect, connect with them by demonstrating sincerity. You can't do that if you're at a remove wearing reflective glasses. Otherwise, I agree with the entirety of your message and you are a good speaker. You are persuasive and articulate. I think removing the reflective sunglasses unless there is a compelling reason to keep them on, is the correct play. I apologize in advance if there is a reason for you to wear them, if you have sight issues that I am unaware of. I assume that your sight is normal based on the fact that you appear to be sitting in a car.

@edkent4984 Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. This was the second time I've said something about this issue. I probably should have done it in a nicer or kinder way, maybe that would have elicited a response. I don't think so though, there was no response to it the first time I pointed it out a few days ago. I found this channel randomly, I came across a video by one of the other people who contribute to the channel, Texas Paul. His videos are persuasive because of his sincerity. His word choice isn't always perfect, but it doesn't detract from the video because you feel how genuine he is. You know that what he is saying is deeply felt. This guy is an even better orator. There is so much potential here and the sunglasses just take away from it. I think that's why I was less than patient in my comment. He is such a good speaker in terms of vocabulary and flow. He is extremely articulate. What is missing though is that additional element of warmth and sincerity, the connection that you immediately feel with Texas Paul is not present to the same degree partially because of the sunglasses.

Why are you shouting into the camera and having the camera come so close into your face? I am subscriber and I'll continue to subscribe because I believe in the mission of the channel, but some of these videos are just very badly made.

@marilynnorourke56 I can do two things at once. I can listen to the message and appreciate it and at the same time notice that something can be improved. That doesn't make me the enemy. Nor does it mean that I don't appreciate the message. The reality is that how a message is perceived is affected by the messenger. It's not tremendously difficult to remove reflective sunglasses in an effort to connect more with your audience. Again though, if there is a reason for the reflective sunglasses then of course what I said would no longer be applicable.

You're wrong though. There isn't any condescension there. I'm probably somewhat older than you and my use of language is going to be different. Don't assume negativity where none exists.

I'm not sure I see the relevance of your age. You're a 54 year old man and in your view I was condescending. Because of? You aren't sure but it just struck you that way. This seems more a problem for you than it is for me. Is it the word choice? The idea that I suggested something that you disagree with? Sorry, Carson but your opinion is disregarded because it isn't grounded in anything other than your feelings and it wouldn't be hard for me to hazard a few guesses as to why you feel that way. Coach responded with courtesy and kindness. My tone to him will warm significantly while it will remain chilly in your direction.

@CoachD_Speaks Thank you for the generous response. My suggestion wasn't meant to diminish your expertise. You make videos, I don't. My perspective is that of someone approximately 15 years older from what you would reasonably construe to be a different demographic. I want your message to get out. I think it's important. I like the sunglasses personally but I also know that they can detract for portions of your audience. Or at least, for portions of an audience that you might not yet have. Being able to see someone's eyes when they speak, the ability to see more of a person's face, is important in forging a connection with your audience. When people can see you as you're talking and see truth and conviction on your face, it helps persuade. It's important for an audience to believe in the person who is speaking, to believe that they are truthful, genuine and that their convictions are real. That doesn't mean that you should never wear reflective sunglasses. If they test well with your audience, then of course continue wearing them. I would be curious to see the breakdown in how your videos do on different platforms, with or without the shades. I'm going to assume that they will be less of an issue on TikTok given the average age there. It would be really interesting to be proven wrong! If you have a moment to update this and are able to compare, let me know.

Good video. I might back away a little from the lurid clickbait titles. Coach D SLAMS HYPOCRISY! SECRET CHILDREN! You're not actually slamming, you're discussing and explaining and you're doing it well. You are passionate and you care and those qualities matter. I'm not sure if the style of title is accurate, if you want that tabloid vibe. If it's working for you though then I guess it's correct to keep it.

Yes, he is articulate but what's with the reflective sunglasses? Is that supposed to be cool or make a fashion statement? It's kind of silly looking given the context. If you're out in the sun, by all means wear your sunglasses but if you're making a video, let's see your face.

What is with the loud shouty video style on this channel sometimes. I'm subscribed and I like the content but some of the presentation really needs work, at least if I am the target audience. If I'm not and the people it's intended for love it this way then I guess keep on doing it.
