@CoachD_Speaks Thank you for the generous response. My suggestion wasn't meant to diminish your expertise. You make videos, I don't. My perspective is that of someone approximately 15 years older from what you would reasonably construe to be a different demographic.
I want your message to get out. I think it's important. I like the sunglasses personally but I also know that they can detract for portions of your audience. Or at least, for portions of an audience that you might not yet have. Being able to see someone's eyes when they speak, the ability to see more of a person's face, is important in forging a connection with your audience. When people can see you as you're talking and see truth and conviction on your face, it helps persuade. It's important for an audience to believe in the person who is speaking, to believe that they are truthful, genuine and that their convictions are real.
That doesn't mean that you should never wear reflective sunglasses. If they test well with your audience, then of course continue wearing them. I would be curious to see the breakdown in how your videos do on different platforms, with or without the shades. I'm going to assume that they will be less of an issue on TikTok given the average age there.
It would be really interesting to be proven wrong! If you have a moment to update this and are able to compare, let me know.
