  1. No, companies are not doing their job. Attorney here, under our current law a company has one responsibility, one job, to make money for its shareholders. It does not have a fiduciary responsibility to the people it sells its products to. That is something we have to address with better laws. Companies should have a responsibility to the people who buy their products. Companies should have a responsibility to sell products that are not damaging. This should not be up for debate. The idea that the company is doing its job by selling Coca-Cola is ridiculous. There is nothing useful or healthy or beneficial about Coca-Cola. Excusing the company by saying that they're doing their job by marketing is patently false and damaging. The interviewer said that he appreciated the nuanced answer of looking at it from both sides. That is exactly the problem. There are issues where both sides are not valid. That's like saying, well on one side of the argument we have the idea that people should be free and on the other side we have the idea that slavery is useful and beneficial. Let's look at both sides. No, let's not because both sides are not valid. This both sides-ism is something has to stop because it creates false validity for things that are not valid at all.
