A couple of things. Canibus is a unique rapper who deserves recognition not "Canibus was a rapper that deserves recognition." Who is always used to refer to people. That is always used when talking about inanimate objects. He is a person therefore you would use who, not that. Second, he's not dead. The guy is 48 years old he is very much alive, no need to use past tense. Is, not was.

@MySqueezingArm Hey, there was no hostility. I apologized and said as much. It's possible to confuse formality of approach with hostility. There was no hostility intended, I felt that you were hostile in your initial response. There is so much willful stupidity and IDGAF going around. I was in part reacting to that. I am not saying that you are doing that. I get to listen to people saying that instead of who often enough that it prompted a reaction. People are often aggressively unknowledgeable and seem to take pride in being that way. I will absolutely cop to being a little pedantic but I don't know where you are reading hostile. Also it should be noted that people generally don't listen anyway. It is the very rare person who is open to guidance, help or input. Again, I apologize for how I came across. No hostility was intended, not in the first or second response. I thought your "look, my dude" and "who cares" were pretty hostile. We aren't all dudes and that kind of response strikes me more as gamer speak than a genuine reply. I don't think I hyper fixated either but I understand you feeling that way given the context.

@MySqueezingArm I guess that's the point. When I type quickly I don't have to think about good grammar or using the correct words. Someone isn't dead they aren't past tense. I don't have to think about that it's an obvious thing. That versus who is the same thing for me. I don't have to think about it to be accurate. I don't know what you do for a living or if literacy matters but it should matter for all of us. How we communicate matters. It is valuable to communicate accurately because it promotes clarity of thinking. You don't have to agree with me but I am objectively right here. If you have to think about that versus who or is versus was it might be something you work on a little bit. We should all want to communicate well. But that is a personal choice. Good grammar isn't the issue it is using the correct words to convey your thoughts. Ideally you wouldn't have to think about that it should just flown naturally. I probably shouldn't have responded but it's important to me so I did. There was no intent to hurt your feelings or be negative.
