@BijinMCMXC The majority of the pictures you see in this video are not from the day she found the cat. This is a nice video made about someone who adopted a cat that was dying and badly needed a home. She didn't go looking for a cat in bad condition, ready to take video in anticipation of posting something on YouTube the following year.
If the vet said that the animal was near death I'm inclined to believe them. The cat was infested with ticks that had died. The ticks had died because there was nothing left to suck out of the poor animal. Do you have any idea of how dehydrated an animal must be to no longer support a tick? At that point you die of heart failure, stroke, your body shuts down. Would giving an animal in that condition food and water be helpful? Possibly, but that dehydrated and close to death often the body can't process it. To be in that condition there were other things wrong, long-term starvation, dehydration, blood loss due to the ticks.
You can tell that some of the clips in the video were taken closer to the time she found him but they weren't taken when the cat was in the worst condition because at that point medical care was the priority.
If you ever find yourself in a similar situation with a dehydrated, starving, tick infested cat, please take it to the vet immediately.
