The greatest source of impoverishment of the poor by the rich is rent and mortgage paid to the wealthy who claim more than their fair share of the land and charge people to use it or buy it, when by rights it should be theirs as their fair share of the earth. I'll believe the rich are serious when they divest their wealth by buying land, putting it in a fixed unchangeable public trust and letting people build their home there on their own sizable farm-able plot for free with the guarantee that no one can take it away from them ever. Most funneling of wealth to the wealthy from the middle class and the poor is of this kind, and it is most of the way the rich keep the poor subservient and unable to advance. The do this intentionally to keep their slave class needing them. Without that means of stealing, wealth would disappear in a few generations.
