  1. No, slippery slope is only a fallacy when the asserted outcome is unrealistic. But we HAVE historical examples where the banning of weapons permitted feudalism to enslave people for CENTURIES!! The penalty for owning a sword was death, so people wrapped their swords in oilskins and buried them. They buried their bows and arrows so they would not be imprisoned for pouching, even though everybody had to. People accumulated so many weapons that they finally realized they could end feudalism, and so they did, they started shooting castle flunkies outside the castle along wooded roads. They started not bringing their harvest to the castle, and ambushing soldiers who came for it, and starved them out. The soldiers turned against their lords and that was that.

Instances of bullying in school, or at home, instances of violence against animals for no good reason, self cutting, and delusional belief systems should be cause for marking a person permanently as too unstable to have guns.

Of course you can test for crazy, school records mandated to contain all bullying, all delusional thinking, all instances of childhood arson or torture of animals, made public and they get marked as untrustworthy with guns and are banned from owning them.   19. People don't often BECOME insane in a violent way. Young adult onset schizoprenia is almost never violent, just disruptive and annoying. When people are sociopathic bullies or violent, they have been that way for a very long time in their youth and people just didn't collect reports of the incidents and make them part of a record that would have to be vetted to license a gun owner.
