Hmm, I would say there are situational depressions (your real depression), cognitive distortion derived depressions (shit thought process even in good situations) and endogenous (biological - SOL) depressions. The endogenous depressions need drugs (or even electroshock therapy (this is last resort)), no if, and, or buts - there are complex genetic factors here (even having to do with clock genes and neurotransmitter production/secretion (notably dopamine serotonin and noradrenaline). The telltale sign of this is bad insomnia (including frequent wakeups) and feeling worse in morning and better at night (this is likely due to cortisol secretion). The cognitive distortion depressions can be fixed through cognitive behavioural therapy or mindfulness (Dr. David Burns is one of the pioneers of this treatment modality (Feeling Good Handbook - I think everyone can benefit from a read). The situational depressions dissipate with time away from the depressing event but obviously, having a healthy cognitive behavioural algorithm in how you process events will determine how well you do and especially how much you have on your plate...Ecouch and Moodgym are free online resources if anyone needs them for cognitive behavioural therapy. There are tons of stuff on youtube about mindfulness...just...don't step into a cult haha.

You won't know whether you made a good or bad decision until you see an outcome - fortune-telling is impossible. Your decision-making criteria and considerations were correct - you need space to increase output and to expand your team. You need a level floor to avoid workplace injury claims and dropped equipment. COVID was a random once-in-a-century event. The reason you've done well up to now is that you've taken on more risk and it panned out, but with many businesses sometimes the risk can sink them. The most important thing is getting up and running again which you have no problem doing - you did earn your successes. Just...try not to ruminate too much, it can lead to depression and alter your brain in a way that won't be productive. The more you fire a certain thought pathway, the more ingrained/rigid it becomes. If the thoughts aren't there to help, then they're not worth engaging in. I think you got the message from them. Not ruminating is easier said than done, but sometimes it's good to work out, play video games, sports, or engage in something that takes your mind off the negativity vs. staying in that chair. Good luck, we're all rooting for you!
