  1. I don't really believe the "higher pollution to build an EV than an ICE car" theory that gets bandied about. First of all, you never see the net pollution emitted by building an ICE car lined up against the same for an EV. Its always just the net energy cost of a BEV, so there is nothing to compare to. Second, that calculation is done for EVs built using a standard power source in the USA, which is not true of Tesla. The Fremont factory uses power from a natural gas powered grid in Norcal. In fact, the majority of the remaining coal power grid in CA is in Socal, and that is because of power imports from Nevada. Third, a lot of the pollution counted in making an EV is because of the relatively poor infrastructure in Bolivia and Argentina where the lithium is extracted. In fact, this industry is rapidly improving and moving elsewhere, to Chile and Australia.
