  1. If RFID tags are comolded into plastics, as is already done with many products, the plastic can be separated from the recycle materials and fed back, most likely to the original manufacturer. This just needs the will to implement it. It just happens to help retailers as well, since RFIDing all products makes things like mass purchase work (passing a cart by a reader to purchase).

  2. I read an article on muon catalyzed fusion, and it it seemed pretty reasonable. Then pons and Flecshmann came out and trashed the entire thing. There is still scientific basis for it.

  3. So I always wondered how DNA can be so long and be in a compact space without getting tangled. If I put my earphones in my pocket, they come out so tangled it takes a half hour to untangle. Turns out the answer is: nature has that problem as well. DNA is kept in a special structure that keeps that from happening.

  12. Being trans is not a fad, but saying you are is. I have seen it personally. The real fad is the same one since ancient times: Lets see what I can say that will shock mom and dad and make me sound cool in front of my friends.

  13.  @AxMi-24  ok. But I don't see that as either/or. Look if you're a thinking person this is not a simple thing. I try to recycle everything with a triangle on it, but they don't (in California) want to do just dump dirty plastics into the recycle bin. So over to the sink it goes. So fine, I recycle plastics, but I am wasting water, a no-no in California. We need to try different solutions. A lot of plastics are already RFIDed, and we don't have any solutions to the mixed plastics problem". So lets try the solution about reducing the different kinds of plastics. Lets try marking plastics. I don't use disposable water bottles, but here in California, everyone and their dog uses them, even people who call themselves "green". IE., lets try stuff out and not just shoot down other peoples solutions.

  14. We spray the hell out of our plants to get rid of insects. Last time I checked, bees qualify as an insect. Doesn't seem like a mystery.
