Before I got a house, I had various gas and electric stoves. I hated the electric ones, which were just coils, but I love my current electric stove that has resistance under glass. Its a lot safer. You can put a paper towel under a pan and it gets burnt, but does not go on fire as a coil stove would. It has lag issues, of course, but they can be dealt with.
