  1. It means there will be less and less consensus in congress going forward, because the majority will simply roll over the minority with less trouble. The net result will be our binary system will be less stable, because the electorate will tend to get galvanized to one side or the other more easily, and thus government will change hands more frequently, and divided government (both halves of congree elected by different parties) will be the norm. Most countries have a system of multiple parties that, while making government less effective, forces consensus since that is the only way to get things done. For us, it means the two parties are edging closer and closer to outright warfare.
