  1. "The pilot must have at least 100 short takeoff and landing missions, with a year of them in Nepal"..... Umm, that also sounds like a Nepal pilots union job protection program as well... The runway is 1729 feet, paved and marked. The most challenging thing about it is the altitude, at 9333 feet. There are several airports in California worse than that, and many unpaved. In Alaska that would qualify as an easy airport. I suspect the major factor here is attempting to bring large, fast aircraft into the airport. See for example Catalina Island airport off the coast at Los Angeles. Although 3000, the approach at one end is a sheer cliff where more that a few pilots have tried to drill into the mountain.
