  1. Water is power. They can pump from the lower locks to the higher locks, or even back to the lake. They can pump sea water up to the locks. It would effectively supplement the lake water with electrical power, and it would only be needed during low water problems.

  2.  @jaxxrr  Just for fun: Pentair Fairbanks Nijhuis HP1-4000.340 has 60,000 liters per second flow rate, for 216 MILLON liters per hour, so it is not days. Especially if you use more than one. The internet is your friend.
