  1. I stopped using small local banks years ago. After trying one, I had them deny a series of withdrawals, charging $300 per bounced check. I had deposited my paycheck there. I read up on the rules, and turned out they were taking the maximum time allowed by law to make the funds available, and collecting bounce charges in the meantime. I pulled out of that bank and went big bank ever since. It cost me about $1000 and lots of bad will with my creditors. That bank closed shortly thereafter for fraud. Never again.
