I had a classic interview once in Silicon Valley. I was walking between buildings with the HR guy I met for the face to face interview. He was bragging about their automated resume checker, and told me that it did a wonderful job of removing candidates who didn't have engineering degrees. Then he happened to look at me and must have seen the look on my face. I am an undegreed engineer. I didn't get the job.

@zvxcvxcz You are doing a pretty good impression of an idiot. There is no such law. Go back to your cat videos.

As a tech worker who is 64 years old, I have had plenty of job applications where I was told the position was filled, but then saw the ad for the same job placed yet again. The message is clear. Companies would prefer to lie to you than tell you the truth. I don't bother to follow up on job applications anymore. They don't call back, I just don't care. Move on to the next job.

I worked for a Radio shack repair center. This was back when sh** shack got companies to make stuff just for them. It was just amazingly cheap junk. Usually electronic components screwed to a piece of plywood with a plastic case hiding everything. They made it clear that the work was so cheap that if you weren't turning work around in less than about 15 minutes it was not worth it to the company. I lasted about 3 months.
