If you try to prevent politicians from profiting from their work, you will just drive it deeper from view. I think the real issue is our leaders serve for too long. We were never meant to have a permanent politician class. Even Washington went home to his farm. Spend too long in Washington, you learn the tricks. Our representatives are supposed to go to Washington and effect the will of the people. Originally that meant leaving the farm, holding congress, then going home. Power breeds corruption.
