  1. I used to fast at least once or twice a year and used it for weight control. It was mainly because I found that it was easier to fast for a week or so, take of any excess weight suddenly than to go on a long diet. However, I am type II diabetic now. I'd be interested to hear how that affects fasting. I know from prior experience that you have to cut back or cease meds when dieting or else you just get "sugar crashes", that is, low dips in blood sugar/light headedness, which makes you have to eat something to fix it.
