Agreed. The first order of business for the military and AI is image interpretation, ie, targeting weapons intelligently and autonomously. Otherwise there is always going to be a need to communicate long distance with the weapons and thus that is the weak link in the system.

Its a repeat of what we saw in WWII. The USA was the only country that found oil, coal and iron ore in huge quantities within the country. It took us a while to get going, but by mid war we were making mass quantities of steel and throwing it at the war.

If EVs effectively export our pollution to China.... I am ok with that.

The people who lost their government paycheck can get real jobs. Feeling sorry for people who are newly poor because they are no longer sucking off the government is like feeling sorry for a parasite whose host died.

California's regulation on refining will simply result in higher prices as we import more fuel from elsewhere. Newsom might cry crocodile tears for that but there is a long history here of hounding "bad" industries out of the state, everything from surfboard manufacture to chrome plating to oil refining to explosives manufacture, the list goes on and on. The bottom line is California government thinks you can pay, and we keep voting for them, so apparently it be so.

Hand Gaza over to the PLO with the understanding that they won't be allowed to succeed. Don't offer a corridor from the west bank to Gaza... build it whether they want it or not. The PLO dosen't wage war against Israel (anymore). Let it be their problem.

Both Xi and Putin are proponents of the "52 pickup" theory, namely that if you are at a disadvantage, throwing the game board over will get you an advantage when things are reassembled.

I don't know. Germany's power issues could be solved by a DC cable into north Africa, as I suspect a lot of EU power will be going that way. N. Africa has lots of sun and cheap land, and power transport via undersea cable is doable.

Gonna be hard to work with Denmark now.
