  3. I'm finding it hard not to see in Romans 14 a lot of the proto-perennialist arguments (I have perennialist friends and I hear their arguments a lot). "Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind" becomes an argument for doing whatever you believe is right. But I think this needs to be re-interpreted, because it's not apologetics for the passions themselves, but rather, a defense for the oneness of truth, and the fact that everyone is liable to be wrong and be caught on the wrong side of the fence on trivial stuff. In that sense, it's an argument against being nit-picky and forgetting ourselves. For nothing that comes to our mouths condemn us, but rather what comes out of it.
