Just look at what a 5% rate of return is for $30 trillion . . . . just the interest alone is $1.5 trillion. The entire 2018 GDP gain in our economy was $560 billion, so almost a trillion dollars had to be extracted from the overall economy just to pay interest to the 1%. That is a huge bit of "socialism" for the 1% just in the past two years, $1.5 trillion in tax breaks and $1.5 trillion in interest payments . . . that is all "free money" for the 1% folks. Just consider that 5% is a low number, the S&P 500 index funds have done over 9% annually since 1994. The 1% lopped off 7.5% or more of our entire economy in order to give themselves "free money" which they did not lift a finger to earn. I've been calling my representative about this, it is completely unsustainable.

Remarkable how the federal government has empty pockets for funding no-cost college tuition, or fully funding health care for our citizens, or fully funding our needed infrastructure upgrades, or fully fund a jobs guarantee program, or funding to end homelessness among U.S. citizens . . . especially for the 60,000 homeless veterans. Remarkable that for anything morally or economically uplifting for our citizens, the U.S. federal pockets are empty, yet . . . Wall Street needs bailing out, or the military needs greater funding for endless warfare, or corporations need tax breaks and the federal government will bend over backwards and run up huge federal debt to accommodate that! What have "We the People" gotten in return for 21 Trillion dollars in accumulated federal debt over 45 years? Absolutely nothing. Something has to change people! Not just a Blue-Wave folks, something else has to fundamentally change. We have a minimum wage, now it is time to put a maximum cap on individual and family accumulation of wealth. I'm not talking about taking away all of our "embarrassed millionaires" right to earn those millions . . . but come on now, be realistic! How many of us has ever seen five million in earnings over a lifetime of working? If you earn $50,000 annually . . . the most wealth you could possibly accumulate over a working life of 30 years is 1.5 million dollars and that is only if you saved every penny and paid no taxes! If the rest of you folks are like me, I have no problem capping all family wealth accumulation for a lifetime at $50 million dollars with a 95% inheritance tax to avoid dynastic wealth accumulation. That comes out roughly at $1.75 million earned after taxes annually. Virtually every single problem facing us as a human society has its roots embedded in those very few of us who are morbidly wealthy. With the exception of asteroid strikes and possibly earthquakes and volcanoes, every single problem we have stems from accumulated wealth in the hands of very few human beings. Eliminate that morbid excess that with a simple wealth and earnings cap, then most of our problems will disappear and many others will find logical solutions that were being stifled by wealthy individuals who wielded power far in excess of the ONE VOTE they are legally entitled to.

  8. I don't know why Americans go completely silent when I bring up the following: Forget about the tax cuts. If the 1% were to be paid just 2% on the accumulated $30 trillion they have but are not spending, that interest payment would completely overwhelm the entire 2018 GDP gains of $560 billion. 2% interest is nowhere near the actual amount of interest (free money) the 1% are piling up at the expense of our national economy, because S&P500 index funds have been paying over 9% since 1994. We simply cannot have $30 trillion chasing a "rate of return" in a $20 trillion annual economy without depressing wages or increasing cost on housing and health care (just to name two). Where is the outrage?

In these huge wealth funds, they roll it over so that it destroys more of our economy each year. With regards to the offshore accounts, there are 17 international wealth funds totaling over $50 trillion chasing a rate of return in a $80 trillion annual global economy. The developing nations are are also being sucked dry, though not quite as unbalanced as the $30 trillion seeking interest from the $20 trillion U.S. economy.

  20. My girlfriend and I were essentially forced into early retirement because the only thing certain about job hunting these days is deeper debt. As of the beginning of 2018, her medical insurance coverage went up by 66% and my insurance stopped covering a $400 per month prescription drug I need in order to survive. Between the two of us, there is no apparent gain from the "Tax Scam" passed by the republicans last year but we have been hammered by the financial side effects of repealing the individual mandate. Meanwhile my own research has shown that median wages today purchase less than half of the housing, transportation, energy and food than the median wages of 30 years ago purchased. Bottom line. we have to get business interests out of our government completely. What is being done by our leadership is reckless, irresponsible and completely selfish . . . we have to vote out anyone who takes business money for their campaigns.

  22. I have a problem with 200 billion federal dollars going into U.S. infrastructure, because the 1.5 trillion dollar plan relies on 80% "private" and state matching funds. I don't want "private" investment in our "public" roads, bridges and airports. Next thing we know, it will cost us "tolls" to drive on "public" roads. This plan stinks worse than rotten fish in a "swamp".

There was a time when people remembered the havoc the republicans rained down on the people of this country and the world, which is why there was a forty year span when the democrats held the House of Representatives. Those people who remembered are no longer around to remind us, so the republicans have been able to reassert themselves and give global destruction another go around. I myself was completely unaware of this history until I decided to make a major project researching our economy . . . my focus was strictly on the present day. Yet every decade I looked into compelled me to look at the earlier decade until I found myself at the end of World War One. We have forgotten that the republicans are out to destroy the Constitution of the USA, because the elders who remember what they did are no longer with us. Jeff Sessions is an evil little man, but his entire party will wear their ideological blinders while marching all of us blindly into global catastrophe. Yet as I just recently heard from Steve Bannon, the republicans are going for the head shot while the democrats are engaged in a pillow fight. We have to learn how to fight, no more of this bi-partisan reaching across the isle bull . . . because this is a battle for our very existence.

  26. tom Dobyns - Lots of new money was injected into the economy post-2008 . . . the reason there is no inflation attached to that is because the money was captured and kept out of circulation by the same financial institutions that caused the crisis. They are essentially swimming in oceans of money right now. Furthermore, inflation was kept at bay by cutting jobs, seizing houses in foreclosure, draining pension funds and doing everything possible to deprive the general population of the ability to spend. No spending equals little to no demand thus holding down inflation. Add to the matter that new job creation in the main cut wages in half. As long as the corporations and morbidly wealthy hold onto money and do not spend the vast reserves they are holding, inflation is held at bay. Then there is all the new money injected into our economy by the banks using debt vehicles . . . the interest rate on the average credit card is so high, consumers lack the ability to spend enough to cause inflation.

Elect new non-corporate Democrat Representatives into the House in 2018, that is our opportunity to clear the House of Representatives of republicans. In addition to the House, fully one-third of the Senate is also up for election in 2018, another opportunity to clear out more republicans from the Congress. Next, we need to promote and pass a constitutional amendment which will prohibit external funding of election campaigns and set up equal public financing for elections. This is to keep non-human persons (as in corporations and PACs) from buying our politicians, so they can go back to work for "We the People". Even now those frightening dictatorial types like tRump plus minions Bannon and Mulvaney, or even Paul Ryan, they all still have to follow the law and constitution. They are really abusing that power right now and not doing their due duty to "the general welfare" of the people as required by the constitution, but they are still limited and constrained in their actions by the constitution. Once we change leadership in the House and Senate in 2018, we the people must direct our employees (Representatives and Senators) to do their duty. Impeach and prosecute all the primary criminals now in office and their "advisors", plus go after all the republicans now in office who at this time are aiding and abetting these criminals. It is time for a massive purge, then we can rebuild our country properly in a way that truly does attend to "the general welfare" of ALL our people instead of just passing laws that benefit only the rich and big business.

No one goes to the expense of launching a missile attack without explosive warheads, which would have in the least . . . opened up those refinery towers like bananas, and more likely would have FLATTENED many of those tower and container structures. Realistically, 1.75 million dollars in annual income and a total wealth cap of 50 million dollars is more than enough to live in the utmost luxury for a lifetime. All wealth beyond these ranges is used for one thing, and one thing only . . . the exercise of power over the powerless. When the industrialists decided in the 1960's to abandon the national economy in favor of profits generated by cheaper foreign labor, they could not actually announce their intention to hollow out the national economy.   43. Yup - The Koch Brothers $400 million in paid TV ads have started to hit us in California. At first I thought it was Jeff Denham(R) 10 District putting ads up again just like he did before the tax scam was passed into law . . . but this time it is Americans for Prosperity putting up the lying ads on MSNBC during the Morning Joe show. They featured an attractive woman who was saying that she received $2000 in extra income due to the tax cuts, and of course they are targeting the conservatives who watch that show. Too bad that lady has not gotten her Health Insurance bill for the year . . . . . yet. We have, it went up by 66% and we did not get anything from the tax cut. Thank you republicans, we are going to remember you at the next election.

There must be a wealth cap at $10 million, after that taxes are 100%. This is the way we deal with the global elites. Most of the 1% is well below the $10 million in total assets mark, and that amount is plenty to live an opulent life. Putting in a wealth cap will put an end to the capitalist bubble cycle.

I was the scrawny kid always getting beat up and he was getting harassed also . . . so we naturally gravitated toward each other. That situation opened my eyes early on to the ongoing racism rampant with white people, except I did not understand what racism was at the time. Ever since then I push back against racism, but most whites will hear nothing of it. Shame too, my black friend was a really good person.
