Don't be ignorant. This is a business, don't do this for your benefit. This is a data war. Apple Collects data too and they want to keep their users all to themselves to monetize.

@eggsngritstn yup, exactly this is about money, hence why I just made a decent penny playing the stock of both companies on this news. People really are slow when it comes to headlines vs reality

These are all publicly traded companies. Google start extracting info from their OS to sell ads, then if Apple doesn't do the same thing, their investors will fire the CEO until they pick a CEO that does what they want which is maximize profits. Investors run the company not the ceo. Average ceo tenure is 5 years. You better believe I'm voting to Fire the apple ceo if they don't monetize the OS the same way Google does.

Tesla is probably the easiest company to follow to understand shareholder rights since its the most known company for shareholder meetings. You can proposena lot of stuff as a shareholder. Shareholders FORCED Tesla to advertise for example (noobs didnt set a dollar amount) for example. Just people got so caught up on etf investing they forget your shares have rights if you own them. This is why I don't just use etfs, I want my voting rights.

Nice. You'll now fuel small apps to go paid since they can't use advertising model, and then when you pay for those apps, apple and collects 30% of the money off of their hard work. This was never about Facebook.... Apple is trying to drive their new profit line, services, as hard as possible. If you actually paid attention to Apple investor calls ( it's not marketing because they have to tell the truth) you'd know this.....

Yes... The first step in turning Facebook into a trillion dollar company. Definitely hurt em!
1
Rofl, way too long but accurate. Apple is the most valuable company in the world and people thought they are just "nice guys." look at the stock of everyone involved... No one is hurt. People never look at the stock, Financials or details. Just dumb headlines.

@07.abhinava90 if you truly cannot track any data, then the ad driven advertising model wouldn't work, so then you'd have to make the app paid. Now let me ask you, who benefits if the app is paid? APPLE. they take 30% of app revenue. So this has NOTHING to do with you, the consumer. This is companies trying to maximize profits by whatever means. If an app isn't paid, either they figure a way around tracking or they're not making money and giving you a free service out of the goodness of their hearts. Which do you think it is?
1
@cloverlief ding ding ding, we have a winner. That and it will force app developers to go paid, and of course Apple Collects 30% off of their hard work. Nothing better than collecting 30% tax off someone else's work. Aapl 🚀🚀🚀. Gotta love that hustle. Largest company in the world and still grinding money out like no tomorrow.
1
They don't want to negotiate with apple over the App Store fees. Do you like 30% tax? No one does. That's why you use the advertising model, to avoid app store taxes.
1
Yup, which is why their stock plummeted. Oh it went up? Ya... Didn't hurt em.
1
Facebook is done for... So you mean now a 1 trillion dollar market cap company? Facebook is up another 10% since this video came out and 30% for the year sitting at all time highs...
1
It doesn't. It hurts every company who wants to be the next Google or Facebook. That's the hilarious part about this, you guys completely misinterpreted it. That's why the stock didn't plummet, but is at all time highs.... you guys could look up the stock to see if something is going to hurt a company? Like it's literally RIGHT THERE.
1
@SuperKirezi exactly! It was a great for the stock and public perception.
1
Facebook stock didn't go to all-time high because their business model is f*****. Ya... I put my money on Facebook when I saw this hate. Easy money.
1
Nope. "how do I create more paid apps to take a 30% surcharge on someone else's hard work." was the correct answer. Problem with the average person like yourself is that you don't stink cynical enough when it comes to business. You'll never actually understand how business-minded people work at this level of competition. This is about driving profits. Fb doesn't even get hurt (look at stock....) just hurts small apps more. So ya, if you bought apple and Facebook stock you did good, it you're just an end user, well, I'll enjoy collecting your app fees in the form of dividend payments...
1
Then, free apps won't be able to survive on advertising models. So they move to paid. And who takes a 30% of that revenue? Apple. Rofl Apple is here to make money. Not to care about you. Unless you own apple stock, you are not cared about at all. I love this move, it will make ios apps cost more money, which benefits me as a shareholder. Good luck.

Lol at comments thinking this hurt Facebook. Meanwhile, Facebook stock 🚀🚀🚀🚀. Too easy to bet against the crowd. Also lol that Apple did this because it loves its users and not to pad its own pockets.

Yes, the LARGEST Company in the world is looking out for you. Apple is literally twice as large as Facebook at 2 trillion dollars. Company has more money on its balance sheet than most countries. They can buy any company in the world except the top 10 with just cash and no financing. And you think they're the good guys looking out for you. How larges does the Death Star need to get before people notice it? How Microsoft and Apple somehow go under the radar as normal companies and not massive insane juggernauts is hilarious.

9:25 Will force app developers start charging for their products. How convenient that Apple takes a 30% service fee for that while they don't get a fee if the app uses an advertising model
