@Willie6785 you keep mentioning profits. YouTube is barely profitable, and not currently. You don't get it. That's why YouTube does this. Because, you can't lose profits you're not getting, and that's why there's no competition. Why can't you understand, companies lose money on stuff... It happens... For long periods of time... So they're not going to give you more when they lose money.

@RamkrishanYT It cost me probably 5k to build my server. So ya... Let's make the barrier to entry for hosting content 5k or so. I understand their pain, because I've partially lived it. Running servers isn't cheap. Also, linus (ya I understand the controversy) has a whole video explaining this... This is thoroughly covered, and people still don't get it.

@poprdog it's basic common sense. If you're gonna make an argument, make it reasonable. That's like me saying "YouTube is trash because it deletes all your phone data." and then someone says no and you say "imagine defending YouTube." no... It's just bringing truthful arguments

@GAHAHAHH what are you talking about? You're making up some weird nonsense. YouTube doesn't allow you the creator to cover the cost as an option because almost no one would freaking do it. Why would they spend dev dollars on that? It's almost like you're purposely being ignorant. They do allow you to not see ads, it's called YouTube premium. And it pays YouTube more than ads. It's so frustrating. You just make up this stuff. Dude, it's literally in the Financials. Go read the actual financials. You won't. Which is why you just make stuff up. You'd know, if you opened the Financials, it's clearly stated, and it's the only place companies can't lie. Marketing, you can lie. Financials, you can't.

@cable_g0re YouTube was run at a loss for years... What are you talking about.... You clearly don't know. YouTube is only just recently profitable. This is the problem with businesses like Google. Normal people like yourself assume they make money everywhere, and they don't. It's like the writers strike. People assume Hollywood is making money. None if the companies are making a profit off of movies though. It seems the general public has no idea how many companies lose money or how many companies are running a money losing portion of their business. A huge portion of things you currently use, don't make money lol.

@alakani lol, you never read the Financials... 4k video is going to kill YouTube. Put your own money on the line, you learn the business quickly. 4k video at mass scale isn't possible. Bandwidth is too much. Again, this was never a profitable business until recently. You guys just assume everything businesses do is profitable. Businesses lose money regularly lol. Especially in the 0% interest rate environment we had for 10+ years. Making money wasn't even a priority. My first job was to burn 10m dollars to acquire customers. I was never asked to make a profit. In fact, I was explicitly told NOT TO. to you, a normal person, I get it, you think businesses always make money. But if that was the case, investing would be brain dead easy. It's not. Picking companies that won't die, lose money, etc. Is hard. And most companies only have one thing generating all the profits. Google is purely adsense. That's how they pay for everything. YouTube was a "I hope it makes money." yes, you can't drop billions on a hope. Welcome to investing at the big leagues. Where pure Insanity happens. It's really impossible to explain this until you burn your first couple million doing this, and well 99.9% of people will never do that, and thus never remotely understand what we're doing.

@GAHAHAHH you assume no one buys off of ads, then why does anyone buy ads? You prove they don't work, go save companies money. Except, in the real world, people do buy off of ads... People like you assume everyone is some weird nerd who doesn't click ads. My neighbor literally bought from temu because of Instagram ads. And that is stated in the parent company Financials. Bro... You just are clueless because you're making stuff up. It's all there in Financials. You can read it if you want but you won't. It's why people in this country are poor. They refuse to play the financial game, and they have zero idea how companies work because they refuse to read Financials or learn anything. They just make assumptions.

@seidious wework was a thing... You don't understand, we burn money in this game. YouTube is a controlled loss. It is allowed to lose some money. The changes you guys want, make the losses too big for adsense to cover. You clearly never read the Financials. It's plain as day stated. Business do this all the time. Xbox was unprofitable for 10+ years. Amazon retail business essentially makes no money(they have a cloud business, Amazon is a cloud company, not a retail, retail is just a joke side hustle at this point), Uber didn't make money, Tesla didn't make money for God knows how long, etc. Losing money for 10+ years is allowed, as long as it's a slow loss. YouTube can't afford to lose more.

@liv97497 you can choose it. Create your own website. Upload your video. Pay for the insane bandwidth cost they charge for video. Just see how it wasn't easy for linus to create floatplane. Video is stupid expensive to host. Also, enjoy finding your own advertisers.

@asheru9254 it's not your private data if you agree to terms of service.... You use their app, they want to make money. Again, if we want to change the model we can. Pay for your privacy. We tried that. People prefer no privacy and a free product.

@Sebastian_Rabbit it's a publicly traded company we all collectively own through our 401ks... It's hilarious when you guys want these companies to crash, like you aren't invested or exposed to them. You'd then cry your pension can't pay out, and wonder why. If you hate these companies, don't use their products, use something else.... If running a business is so easy and profitable, you do it. If businesses are so profitable, then invest in them... If Google makes so much money... It's a public company, buy the stock.
