  1. ​ @precooked-bacon like I'll give an example. Disney will say a movie is budgeted for 150M. The media will then hear this, and say the movie cost 150M. But that was just the budget. They also spend 150M on marketing. Then, another 100M on reshoots. Months later, if they shoot the movie in the uk, we then get their tax filing, and see they spent 400M. But they media reported the 150M budget as cost. What you're seeing here, isn't the full training cost. It's a subset of the training cost. And again, none of this is remotely close to the end game of what's being achieved anyway. We're still trillions of dollars of ai compute away from that. Even if you were ignorant enough to think they magically reduced training costs by half or something, it wouldn't change anything. We're still so far away from end game, it's like worrying who's in the lead, 5m in to a 1500m race. It's stupid.

  2. Yes people act like this is some brand new innovation. Everyone does this. It's not new, it wasn't some huge leap forward. Our media is genuinely stupid.

  3. I just want everyone to remember this, in 5 months, or less, you'll realize this was all a nothing burger. Too many of you take announcements at face value, with no ability to actually understand what's being said.

This is akin to a game releasing a minor patch, saying it's amazing, and everyone runs with the story. You guys just aren't smart.
