  1. Funny thing I learned in basic training in the military. We had a baby pigeon with pin feathers not old enough to fly. The bird was on the male side of the barracks. Most of the guys didn't bother the bird. Some tried to pet it and feed it. Sometimes for laughs, they pretended the baby pigeon was a drill instructor when it walked toward us we'd march opposite direction so that it looked like it was drill instructing us... like an MTI would. The bird stayed on our side for about 3 days. Kind of turned into a mascot of sorts, dubbed it Sgt Pinfeathers. Then it ended up on the female side of the barracks. I was out throwing trash away, and females were throwing stuff at the baby pigeon. Finally, one of the girls picked up the pigeon, and walked over to where I was throwing trash away, and tossed the baby pigeon into the dumpster. I mentioned it to one of my buddies. A truth I'll never forget came out of his mouth: Guys play rough, but women are ten times more cruel.

  2. +Jonathan Seale LOL! They do all the time depending on the species. Various birds including ducks, geese, doves, etc. Squirrels, dogs, cats, etc. They can be very cruel to each other. Then outside species cats and other predators will often toy with their prey. Keeping it alive, slowly crushing its legs until it eventually is mauled to death. And they usually don't eat it if their full. They just leave it. That doesn't justify us humans acting like other uncivilized animals though. I'm just saying animals domestic or wild can be very cruel to each other's own species and to other species. You don't want us to use the nature of all animals as a morality compass. Sharks, black widow spiders will eat their babies if the babies remain nearby shortly after birth or hatching. Walrus mating and child rearing is very disturbing. Male walruses will fight over female walruses. The winning male walruses mate and leaves, the female walrus gets pregnant and eventually gives birth and abandons the baby walruses on the shore never to return. The male walruses that lost the opportunity to mate with the female walruses, act as surrogate parents of sorts to abandoned pups. Sexually frustrated, they remain but it's not for free. Regardless of walrus gender male or female walrus pups, the male surrogate parent rapes the pups who scream for mercy. Nature can be very disturbing.
