  1. My grandma wasn't. She was and so is her surviving older sister, my great aunt, die hard democrats. In fact, the older they got and have gotten, the more staunch democrats they become. My grandma in particular was paranoid of republicans gutting social security and medicare. My dad, who looks like an old timer hick with cow boy boots and big belt buckle Idahoan, has only become more of liberal democrat over time. He's upset with the democrats because they've become essentially the GOP economically. He dislikes to "extreme" EPA laws, as he was an industrial worker, working at a phosphorus refinery that was later sold off to China, shortly after he retired. He thinks the EPA should have funds to provide subsidies to meet clean standards, he understands the importance of the EPA, as he put it, without the EPA we'd end up like China with incredibly bad air and tainted water. He just doesn't want the EPA to be used as an excuse for big business to cut production, and send it overseas where there isn't the environmental protection. We wonder why CO2 levels continue to rise despite the gutting of our own industrialization in the US and western Europe; the production went to China, Malaysia, Mexico, etc. where they don't enforce many if any environmental protections; they're often even dirtier than when the factories or mines were in the US or other developed countries. So, it's not really the case older you get, you side with the GOP. Only greedy fucks who come into lots of money decide they want to go GOP. They got the money honey now, so fuck you all small people.

  2. That's what lots of "little guy" supporters seem to be. Their finances are generally a wreck; my oldest brother bought a McMansion over 15 years ago, still owes on it plus home equity loans on it counting on property values to keep rising for the next 30 to 40 years-- is equity. Not realizing he's paying more in interest on his continued refinancing and extension of the principle mortgage, and he's paying interest on the home equity loans he keeps taking out. Penny wise- pound foolish... jumping over dollars to pick up pennies. A GOP commentator on some article I read recently; she stated cutting the small stuff out of the budget is what her mom told her, cut the small things and the budget will take care of itself. Not if it's only 1% or even 10%, leaving bigger items that take up large portion of the reaming 90%. You won't make any headway. That and their social anti-Darwinists. My older brother is big in the Mormon church, which I discovered in college in biology course, Mormons tend to think origin of species-- biological evolution isn't fact. Reminds me of the Catholic Church when it was against the heliocentric model of the solar system. Which is weird considering our level of technology and education... my oldest brother has a BS in Computer Science; he's not an uneducated dummie. I actually think in many things, he's quicker and more capable than me like in higher math such as calculus. I dislike math, for math sake, calculus isn't fun.
