  2. The major cause of inflation is monetary policy. The Fed reserve purposely sets max interest rates, and their policy is always to produce inflation. Various policies by banks and the Fed have caused more inflation than incomes could ever possibly cause. Borrowing money from non-existing money supply tends cause that to happen; Fractional reserve lending. It's not necessarily a bad thing. More people have access to credit to start businesses or get the appliances or thing that helps them be happier more productive lives as workers or what not. But inflation is a given. economists find its easier to keep an economy from imploding than during deflationary economies. Deflationary economies you have to forgive massive percentage of principle on the amount of debts... which never happens.

  3. The amount inflation occurs by incomes is extremely low. Inflation primarily comes from two specific places-- government deficits as they spend more than what they get in tax revenues. And monetary policy-- especially with recent quantitative easing-- government bonds; the debit is monetized by the Fed. The Fed "buys" the bonds to keep interest rates low, by printing money and taking over the bonds. Did this to the tune of $4 trillion dollars. Fed did this on purpose to re-inflate real-estate prices, which they have successfully accomplished. A third way inflation can hit is the banks fractional reserve lending; they only keep a fraction of any deposits on hand, and are allowed to lend many times over their deposits... their deposits are also from other borrowings. This increases inflation more than almost anything.
