You'll see that nonsense in Boise to OKC to Atlanta GA to Tampa FL... essentially it's everywhere. Even Salt Lake City is a drug infested poverty shit show. Seattle and surrounding suburbs in 2011-12 were pretty sketchy. Welcome to the US, the poverty turned to drugs and booze as it often does.

@ba94845 Too many "clean" areas to really say that yet. But every city and town now has it's perpetual homeless and often drug addicts from Idaho to Oklahoma to California to Ohio to Florida to Washington state etc. To be fair to actual 3rd world poverty famine stricken shit holes I have observed, we're not quite there yet, we're 2nd world. 3rd world (lacking electricity and/or backed up sewage lines and no water at all even gray water that could be filtered) but we're getting close, the facade between 3rd world and 2nd world even 1st world is very small. Ask any Croatian and Serbian refugees. So your point still stands, we have to act as if we're already 3rd world because otherwise it will be too late to change things for the better in any meaningful way. The slide from 2nd to 3rd is simply a economic recession/depression. And poof.
