I know lots of cops in various states, some former military some not. Most of them don't go into the police force so they get a chance to be a dick face. There's bad ones in the military and police. But the real reason, they really genuinely want to protect others and in return they get a stable and what many consider an honorable job. Many I know, some already got out long ago, are actually disliking what they're told to do, and the equipment they use or lack thereof. Police shouldn't only have a firearm, they should have mace and/or a taser so they don't have to resort to lethal force. And they dislike the insanity elected officials have done in protests having to show up in a military like garb which only agitates the situation.
