I have heard about a few open primaries where you can register same day and be unaffiliated that some usually right wingers took the democrat ticket to vote Biden.... them knowing Biden would be easier to beat than Bernie. I know some Mormons who usually vote GOP dislike Trump so much around Idaho and Utah, that they authentically switched parties in attempt to get Biden, someone they could vote for. So it wasn't all cynically done. It's a mix of cynical knowing Biden sucks, and Mormons and a few other right wingers that can't stand the opening of the curtains of the corrupt oligarchy we have in the US that Trump does.
