First class and business class seems to never be full, and often half capacity or less.
Coach tends to be full all the time. Especially for international flights.
My experience, because 1st class and business class (if that airline actually has a distinction), are smaller, with mostly coach since those seats actually fill.
Makes sense they even bother having a 1st class/business class even at the smaller capacity that still only fills half or less.
They give out 1st class if you take overbooked offers. Only time I ever fly 1st class is when someone gave it to me, which I told him I didn't want to do that, that's expensive by he insisted, yes it was military and yes I had crutches, but it was a training injury nothing special, or taking an overbook offer. I'd pay the least possible.
There's not enough people who can drop $3,000 let alone $14,000 on the same trip that they can pay $800 to $1,300. And if they had to pay $3K to $14K, many simply wouldn't go unless the company they worked for was paying.
People are generally broke. You have a tiny market share of rich people.
And super rich people tend to charter aircraft, either their own, leased, or just contact a charter company.
