And seriously, you're so concerned we'll "damage".
But if our civilization falls apart, as many have in the past. It all goes back to the way nature has it. Our conviction that we're changing the earth indefinitely via certain things like dams, even climate change, is pathetic. If we go extinct, no more than a few tens of thousands of years to hundred thousand years, traces of our existence would be gone on the surface. A few tens of millions, mountains are formed where none were, and old mountains are laid low into hills and hills into flat lands.
Our concern about climate change has to do more about ourselves, the rate at which climate may change will likely bring about world wide famine. And that means billions die from starvation as well as all the un-fun things that happen when nations have crop failures: disease and war. IF it means our doom, the earth still has at least 600 million years of habitable time in the sun.
We're not even a cosmic fart. That would be the sun.
We're more like a virtual particle; the flickers of the Casimir effect, barely even existing.
