Light traveling at c like in space, inertial reference frame experiences 0 time and 0 distance. So to its point of view having a spacial dimension doesn't exist to a photon most of the time, unless going through a medium that slows it down but not including being absorbed by an electron or proton and remitting because new photon remitting isn't the same one that was absorbed.) A a photon emitting from an electron and being absorbed to the next electron is instant to the photons reference frame.

My understanding, in a vacuum which is space-- light travels c. In fact, if it goes into a medium where it refracts to slow it down once its out of that medium into a less refractive medium it speeds up. And if finally goes into 0 refraction, a vacuum, it speeds to c in that new medium. Hence why light is reliable in space. Space, which I understand is a vacuum at it has 0 atm pressure. A few debris in space is = to putting a few rocks in a vacuum chamber then not calling it vacuum chamber.
