  1. Wrong. The point of the constitution is to ensure laws that are passed from majority do not interfere with basic rights established in the US Constitution. The US Constitution is to ensure the minority are protected from the majority including any conflicting State Constitution with the US constitution, US Constitution holding supreme over all States. The only way to overturn any Federal or Supreme Court rulings: 1) Supreme court later hears the case again and changes its original ruling. 2) Article V Convention where 2/3 of the states declare a constitutional convention to begin proposals amendment to the constitution.  (Article V Conventions have never happened). 3) Or 2/3 votes by both Houses of Congress to begin a Amendments Convention for proposals of Amendments.          A) Then Once the proposals are agreed on, they must be ratified by 2/3 of the states' either legislatures or ratification by state conventions called for that purpose.   The states are not duty bound to resist, they are duty bound to the Constitution of the United States.   The history of the Civil War should have taught you that much.

  2. Any union or agreement between adults or guardianship of children will necessarily take up time and money both in entering in such agreements and when such agreements become breached. Change paperwork titles to civil union, to power of attorney, contracts, to certificate of guardianship you'll get the same costs.  Its part of being human. Until a new species comes about that is no longer human, then you'd have a point for that non-human species that has self-awareness.
