  1. This is utter bullshit. Us liberals would never deface a statute of Lincoln. I don't know a liberal who doesn't revere Abe Lincoln. This was when the Republican party was liberals- anti-slavery, anti-child labor, public school supporters, pro compulsory education, etc. First to institute an income tax, institute the first free college, was anti "free" trade, trade agreements that are exploitative in nature, etc. a rather liberal guy. Wasn't until about the time of Woodrow Wilson and FDR that the parties flipped in liberal-progressive for the mass of people policies such as collective bargaining.
