Yout hit everything on the nail. 1) First right of refusal is a good policy. 2) Fed Reserve (banking cartel) monetized all the bank debts and we all get over priced housing. Stupidity upon stupidity. 3) Getting rid of public housing competing with private housing development has been a the mistake of many other nations, and they're in a similar boat... US more than other nations with millions literally living in RV's and tents and cars with FAMILIES children. 4) Use our tax dollars not for some oligarch private military to colonize various poor nations in Central and South America and in Asia and Indonesia, but to maybe build, develop roads and utilities. Instead of the bozo the clown method that many cities have adopted: developers are now required to build the roads and water works and sewer works and electrical to specifications to the local utility companies, they then hand the utilities and roads to the respective operating entities for "Free". It's not paid for by the city or municipality or by the private power company or gas company or private water company... it's all paid by the developer now who then has to pass that price of building the roads and utilities onto the buyers. Prior, home builders simply had to build the house allowing developers to build home homes, our taxes over time paid for all those utilities and road services. 5) Free market has failed. You're living thru it. Banks now own the market. Congrats. Government bad is the montra propaganda nonsense. A democratized nation you are the government, you gave that away to the banks and oligarchs. Congrats. 6) The problem without government any intervention, you would still not have enough housing supply... and we'd probably still be in a complete depression. But it was done horribly. Free markets you got what we got... it's fantasy.

Yes, it's been done in the past. It involves not allowing housing to become a leverage stupidity via the banks, who are owners of central banks of many nations, and especially the Fed Reserve which is a banking cartel, not much really governmental about the Fed Reserve despite its name. So you halt the leverage stupidity. You use our tax money on ourselves: develop roads and utilities and lots, builders simply get paid to build the house, and provide various other public housing subsidies. It's been done in the past, it's not difficult. This let it be market nonsense is just that, we're living thru it... once again. It's a horrible thing that usually sees revolution/civil war and/or collapse in economies. Basics that become screwed by idiot no planning economics like food, shelter, water, etc. causes basic shortage and you have a collapse in that nations economy. That entire "government not being involved" is propaganda. So you don't have government much involved anymore, stupidity of the markets... and now we have people living in fucking RV camps or tents. So magical government so bad... well in a fucking democracy you are the fucking government. To say government bad... you are handing that baton to the oligarchs. And we can see, we're living thru it. It shits in your mouth. So that government bad nonsense was just propaganda from the oligarchs.
