  2. Oligarchy tends to cause people to support authoritarianism... until they finally get what want, dictatorship, they're left in ruin and ashes and they clamor for democracy... then oligarch returns... then repeat.

Well, democracy maybe difficult to achieve, an actual democracy and not an oligarchy... but the difference between even a sort of democracy and absolute dictatorship either it be clothed in the most popular superstitious nonsense of the day often coined the term religion instead of the hysterically unpopular superstition coined cults, in a theocracy, monarchy, or just a secular dictatorship, they're all tyrannical with no peaceful solution to overthrow. While an oligarchy is tyrannical, two methods exist to overthrow it, education that leads to peaceful overthrow by disabling their monopolies on the system, or violence. Hence why authoritarianism is infinitely worse. It's why the so called communist systems under despots of Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot failed miserably and cruelly. Dictatorships fail at an astonishing rate, faster than any democracy, and those dictatorships that survive for any length of time are at the majority of a tyrannized people living in misery to the point fear means nothing, desperation and compulsion marks the day, and dreams are only to survive or find method to a fast suicide. Democracy, an actual democracy (that also protects to civil rights of a minority) should always be an objective of any civilization.
