Instinctively I thought well Mars atmosphere is extremely thin and very cold, so 100% relative humidity is jack shit.... so I was immediately expecting the TED talk guy to explain what makes this humidifier even work at all sufficiently.

Well, we elected a reality tv heir to a fortune who had gone bust several times and still probably about a billion in debt as president. So... reality tv sending people to Mars might not be too insane. Humans are riding the clown car rocket! Which is fitting as we're the clowns of the universe.
