Charters can be the best way to go... and if you pool with other family or friends you can go farther with about or in this case cheaper than most coach prices. You can give up the reliability on the return flight costs and availability sometimes.

I've paid more for coach... than for 542! LOL! I've paid more in long flights renting a Cessna 172 and I'm the pilot flying it... $120ish a buck an hour when engine running. You paid $542 for a private jet... wow. Good deal!

Of courses that's $542 x 2 for the two of you right? $1,084? I know charters in the past had min orders... so it always made sense to take a charter if you could get many friends or family together and split the costs... ended up being cheaper than first class or even coach. And you fly like the rich... or the private pilot. I'm thinking there is an economy of scale that's required for charters... min order for them to take your flight. Because jet fuel and the burn rate on them is often pricy... about $300 or so an hour to rent a cheap turbo prop or jet (which pays for fuel internal insurance maintenance etc.) but not the pilots... pilots often rent a jet then charge for their work plus rental costs to perform charters like this. I currently only hold a private pilot non-commercial license. So can't fly for hire... can share pro-rata costs though with passengers.
