  1. Joe you are totally wrong on this one. Just watch what happens in Europe, what happened in China. Don't believe the claims for "old & sick". It's just not true. Europe is just waking to the fact that young and healthy people also get sick and have lung diseases to the point they can't be treated and die. Don't kid yourself. This is serious. Protect yourselves. It is impossible to get the population to develop herd immunity unless you are willing to deal with 50M deaths in the next 3-6 months. Just run the numbers: 70% of the population will be infected, 20% will need treatment and up to 10% will have to be put on ventilators. You don't have that many ventilators. - and so most of them will just die. If nothing is done this will affect the whole country within 3 months. the virus spreads at a speed of ~35% daily growth rate. So if 100 people are infected today, and without social distancing, 300M people could be infected in the next 50 days (that's 100*1.35^50). I know, hard to believe but that's the thing with exponential growth: it's hard to believe.

  2. AlphaZero is not learning from scratch. Humans have built in the objective and thats what the machine is optimizing to. That's 90% of the learning. Learning from scratch would mean to figure out the objective function by itself. It does not do that. What it does it compute the best path of action towards reaching the objective. That's amazing but not intelligent.
