@TheRahsoft thats just bullshit. The model is a SIR model which is the standard model widely used in epedemics. The code is well maintained and publically accessible, there is are well documented versions of the model taking into account new insights and developments in research. That's called science.

Peter Cohen oh really? The existing wellfare systems carry maybe a third of the population, probably less. How can it carry 100% of people with the same money?
3
Krooksbane why would these other people still work (for money)? After all there's free money for doing nothing.

Chomsky is a linguist fcol. He just thinks he is the political elite.

Hesket Calm down. Look it up. He's a linguistic. And a self proclaimed leftist political activist who thinks he knows it all. He doesn't, like anybody else.

Hesket just listen to him

There used to be such a process. It was called Inquisition, run by the catholic church for centuries. One of its famous victims was Galileo Galilei for claiming that the earth was in fact circling the sun (heliocentric model). It was against the established beliefs in both the scientific community and the cleric establishment (reviewing authority, not unlike peer reviews today, albeit a lot more powerful). In fact Galileo's writings were considered fake news and banned from publication! Galileo was sentenced for life long prison for breaking this ban and publishing in words that the common man could understand (populist!). Today Galilei is considered one of the founders of the scientific process. It took the catholic church about 350 years to apologise and recognize that in fact Galilei was right. Introducing a new Inquisition to ban what some people today call fake news or 'dangerous science' is to betray the fight and suffering of Galilei and the great benefit that the open scientific community and rights for free speech have achieved since. Using the internet to promote the idea of banning free publication for the greater good is equally betraying the openness of the very medium.

Oh and so now Mr Dawkins knows what's best for us? All throughout history it was the so called elites that got the rest of the people into wars and poverty. So no, elites are not the best decision makers by any scientific standard.

Nicola Margelisch he chooses not to vote that's fine. Why does he assume everybody else should feel the same way? That's absurd

Assuming Adam and Eve did not happen is hypocrisy. We simply don't know. Yet it's certainly thinkable that someone put us on earth and Adam and Eve were among the first two. Imagine we fly to Mars, how would we start colonizing the planet?
