Why China,? They could borrow from IMF.

@Oklm23 Since you are going on about China doing this and that, there is another Pacific island called Nauru. They were rich with phosphate. The mining companies completely stripped the island of every ounce of phosphate they could extract, leaving the island completely destroyed. An ecological disaster. Nothing can grow there and the natives have to rely on food supplied by ships that come by at regular intervals. These mining companies that plundered the island were not from China.

@pioupoi 45% is also a big number and they are rioting.

@spacenodus7959 Very close contest. Not unanimous. About 47% say yes for independence. That's why rioting is so widespread and destructive.

@schloops8473 The referendums were closed affairs. The pro French won 53% to 47% helped by influx of French settlers. The 47% are now rioting.

@jivkoyanchev1998 The first two were closed contests. 44% voted for independence while the third like you said was boycotted by the Kanaks. 44% is quite a sizeable number. So there will always be simmering tensions and resentment that can boil over anytime. Like what has happened now.

@skinwalker69420 Not true. China went to war with Vietnam to teach a lesson, because they toppled the Cambodian government who was a closed ally of China. China has no intention of taking over the country

@mrvwbug4423 Talking about a very high price tag, there is another Pacific island called Nauru. You should read how this small island was completely stripped and destroyed by mining companies until nothing can grow on their soil. The natives have to depend on ships delivering their food supplies. These mining vultures did not come from China.

Chins is not an enemy. They buy more German luxury cars than the rest of the world combined. The same goes for French luxury fashion goods. Would anyone buys so much to support an enemy's economy?
