@Hopper-n5f They were disappointed that he's not from China. For Americans, in general, Chinese means China.
79
Nato has done quite enough. Just ask Serbia or Libya.
57
@Hopper-n5f So you are saying this Singsporean CEO is actually not qualified to do the job. H was hired to avoid suspicions. Did you check his qualifications/work experience?
57
I fully agree. Real whales are meant to swim freely in our oceans.
48
Imagine the alternative of not doing anything at all. It would have been much more devastating than waste of water and effort. The rapid spread of desertification and massive regular sandstorms.
42
Job and education opportunities. Not everyone wants to he a farmer.
40
jasperpercabeth9140 If this is the same Reaper drone they tried to sell to India, it cost 100 million.
22
Their own citizens from Inner Mongolia. Not Mongolia. They are most probably Han Chinese rather than ethnic Mongolians.
21
@JamesJiansen You are absolutely right that Hongkongers generally look down on Chinese ppl from South East Asian. My parents have plenty of stories of how they were treated by their business owners during their short stay there. I don't understand why they have this superior complex especially when you see their pigeon holes they call home.
19
The California high speed rail project has exceeded the original budget by almost USD50 billion. And its not even half completed. So 2 billion is small change especially when it's about to commence operations.
18
Well Singapore and to some extent Malaysia have certainly benefitted from HK troubles. Safe havens
18
I didn't expect them to get any at all. So 5 is a huge achievement.
18
So is Las Vegas , Atlantic City ,Monte Carlo. Macau is not unique
17
I would take whatever compensation and get out. Looks like a rundown neighbourhood. Out of place in an international city like Shanghai.
16
As someone from South East Asia I am afraid I have to agree with this.. I do know many wonderful HK friends through my years of working with them. So there are always exceptions like everywhere else.
16
Phillippines most dangerous threat comes from within. Marawi is just one example. Maybe their govt should do more to protect their citizens in the south from their own citizens in the south. Especially during coming Christmas season.
14
@Lily-gz3ip Not unusual. Malaysian Chinese ppl generally prefer girls over boys. Can count on daughters for care n support even after they're married. Whereas sons only listen to their wives. Btw I have 5 sisters only 1 brother.
14
Of course they will. But a much improved and safer copy for sure.
13
Why not. All masterpieces have been copied and sold to art lovers who can't afford to own the real ones. We have many mona Lisas here. Don't know why pl like them. Just a smiling lady.
13
So it's ok to destroy this bistro? Is this business owner responsible for this new pension reforms?
13
@erikmorales6912 Maybe China should tell her that there is an overcapacity of smartphones and computers production. That Apple, HP and Dell should be told to scale back as thd world is unable to absorb all.
12
I was waiting for this comment. Some people just can't help themselves.
12
What are you expecting? A free lunch? No such thing anywhere in the world. They are getting an airport. Not bunker buster bombs that can only do one thing.
12
Head in the sand as always. In the largest democracy in the world, train accidents are a common occurrence. They hold the world record of three trains colliding into each other at the same time. Safety? Don't even mention it. I think you know who I am referring to.
12
And it will scare the daylights out of Washington.
11
The issue is about the New Delhi situation which is entirely made in India. Nothing to do with China.
11
@SK-lt1so Guantanomo, Mariana Islands, Diego Garcia
11
@melvinstarita638 No need to steal inferior tech. They should learn how to make batteries like those from CATL or BYD.
10
So it is. So what? None of any one else business.
10
@timnic3850 Just rode on their amazing high-speed rail a couple of months ago. From Hangzhou to Beijing in just 4.5 hours. Amazing piece of engineering marvel. Had to book ticket 3 days in advance.
10
I find this puzzling . Why would anyone believe there are high paying jobs in a conflict zone area like Myanmar. Unless those who are desperate enough to take whatever risks.
10
They are the new kid on the block. Just like when Airbus first started and they got the same mocking from Boeing. It only made them stronger. Today they have surpassed their mockers. The same for C919, given time.
10
Sorry bruh. They don't. Prove your to claim to Nato if you have any.
9
You do. You are here aren't you?
9
They are a G20 member. Can easily afford this. Unlike yours
9
@grandcanyon-d4d TSMC is already in Arizona and about to start producing cutting edge chips. Taiwan has just lost their bargaining chip.
8
Afraid not. 40 days abstinence. Not sure if there are enforcers in case of cheating
8
You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. People want progress but they don't want change. Not in their backyard.
8
Most villages in Japan are deserted
8
It's an undeniable fact that you are all 100% ethnic Han Chinese. I have been to both Taiwan and China and can't tell the difference. But you are right. Unification is near impossible and the faster CCP realizes this the better for the Chinese people.
8
Its between Phillippines and Indonesia and no one else. Dumb comment
8
@Pearloryx There are many instances of athletes collapsing and dying on the field in US. Especially in their NFL and soccer leagues. This type of incidents happens everywhere. You are ignorant.
7
He's now a visiting college professor with University of Tokyo.
7
@panglaro8486 For now. Localisation will gradually replace them over time. We are talking about building an airplane, not a smartphone. Anyway the most important part of the plane which is the fuselage, is built by them. If they don't get it right nothing else matters.
7
@kylorokx1552 For now. A thousand mile journey begins with the first step. Right at the first step itself, the most important part of the plane which is the fuselage, is home made. Over time the imported parts will be replaced. We are talking about an airplane, not a smartphone.
7
Half of their population lived in poverty. Rampant violence .There is no hope in the first place. Nothing to lose.
7
@Cosmo1093 I am afraid they are also facing a huge surge in cases. Daily average 9k. mRNA or whatever vaccine makes no difference
7
@Lily-gz3ip not true. I am Chinese and I have 5 wonderful daughters.
7
Desperate times require desperate measures.
7
They are just investors. Like any other investors. They don't involve themselves with internal affairs.
