Not true. The Vietnamese govt already announced back in April this year they are going ahead to start construction of not one but two high speed rail lines in cooperation with China by 2030. First line will connect the port of Haiphong to Lao Cai province bordering China Yunnsn province via Hanoi. The second line runs from Hanoi to Lang Son province bordering China Guangxi province. The first line will be 427 km long and construction will start end of this year. Another major rail project involves the 1500km North to South line linking Hanoi and HCM city, which both countries plan to start in 2030.

A joke of a channel. No, their high speed trains dont crash. They make millions of trips and carry millions of passengers every year. Especially during their Spring Festival. I must have taken countless trips whenever I am there for business and leisure. A piece of engineering marvel.

Yes it takes so long that it's never finished. There are plenty of such fiasco projects. Like the California High high speed rail that was conceived in the nineties and finally stated work in 2015. After nine years not a single meter of track has been laid so far. Meanwhile the original projected budget of 35 billion dollars has ballooned to an estimated 230 billion dollars when it is expected to complete in 2029. Expected only, still not sure. Another example is the famous Berlin Brandenburg Airport expansion that took 12 more years to complete than originally planned. While the project cost ran over the budget by several billion euros. Then there is the multi billion dollar Hinkley Point C nuclear power station in UK. Projected to cost £18 billion and complete by 2017. Now the French contractor EDF Energy said the new dateline of completion has been pushed to 2031! 14 years delay. The new estimated cost has ballooned to £46 billion. The contractor had to take an impairment charge of £13 billion due to the long delays. So yeah sure civilized countries sure know how to deliver even if it takes forever.

Do you know that 80% of all ship to shore gantry cranes used by US ports are made in China? Eventhough Washington feels that this dependency is a national security risk, they have no alternative since there is no domestic manufacturer to replace China. It will take time to get a domestic supplier up and running.

The Nasa Starliner space craft cost USD4.2 billion and ten years to build. What they got from the builder Boeing is a leaking and dangerous craft that caused their astronauts to be stranded in space. And they are still stranded. Safety? What's that

OK I forgot about that Nasa Starliner space craft that cost 4.5 billion dollars and ten years to build. Guess what? Boeing delivered a leaking and dangerous craft that caused their astronauts to be stranded in space. And they are still up there. So yeah sure civilized countries take their time to deliver really" high quality" work.
