  2. Dalai Lama is no longer relevant to Washington ever since he proclaimed he is not seeking an independent Tibet. Just like Aung San Suu Kyvi of Mynamar who was once idolized in the west for standing up to the military junta. She's now forgotten and abandoned by her once admirers and rotting in jail. Both are useful only if they serve their masters purpose.
