  1. Horrible quality and poor optimization? I have taken a ride on their high speed train that moves at 350 kmh from Shanghai to Beijing back in 2019. A 1.2k km journey that took just 4.5 hours on complete comfort with on board wifi and meal services. Mind blowing tech. To optimize usage they have designed and developed their rail network through 8 vertical( north to south) and 8 horizontal (east to west)corridors connecting all their first tier and second tier cities. You can literally travel to any part of their vast country via hsr, except for their most remote and far reaching north western part. They can even coup with the busiest travel period during their annual spring festival when hundreds of millions of Chinese travel back to their hometowns. Without a world class efficient public transport infrastructure in place, China would never be able to become the second largest economy in the world. Imagine trying to move 1.4 billion citizens around daily with only slow trains, bad roads and inadequate subways.
