  1. Not entirely correct. Firstly, there is no US military base in Singapore. I live and work there. Secondly, except for the Phillippines, the rest of the Asean countries are neither pro US or pro China. But they do count on China as their largest trading partner and are members of their BRI.

  2. Their sky don't lie. Visited Beijing for the first time in 2005 and the air quality was really bad on some days. Went back in January 2020 and the difference was between night and day. Clear blue sky all the 2 weeks I was there. Despite the fact that the city's population and number of vehicles on their roads have increased immensely. The city authorities must have put in an enormous amount of effort to achieve that. Winter time in the city in the past accounts for the most number of polluted days,due to increase in burning of coal for heating purposes.
