@markfinch2016 The Chinese are way ahead of everyone else in ev tech. Yhe Germans are investing heavily in Chinese ev tech. Like VW 700 million dollar investment to acquire 5% in Chinese ev maker Xpeng. Audi is collaborating with Chinese SAIC to build China specific evs. Mercedes invested in Chinese start up Momento to get access to their autonomous driving solutions. Mercedes intends to build an all electric CLA model using these solutions. You may not be aware that VW have invested more than a billion dollars to set up an ev research and development centre in Hefei China. Not back home in Germany. So you see most of the advanced tech is coming from China. Why the need to steal outdated tech from anyone.

@barbaraagar126 Why would the Chinese bother at all to interfere on your federal elections. What is there to gain from doing it. The same with US. The choice is between two senior citizens. One already bound for the nursing home while the other maybe on the way to prison.

@coolco1619 It used to be true. But not anymore, like in the auto industry. Automation coupled with complete vertical integration in the manufacturing and assembly processes have enabled manufacturers to enjoy economies of scale with increased output and reduced production costs. All these translate into cheaper cars without compromising quality. Chinese ev maker BYD is one prime example. They make everything in house except the wheels. That's why they can sell quality and reliable evs that are cheaper than their competitors. Many of their models have 5 star safety rating from Euro NCAP.

You got it right. Not just no oil but also those who have access to cheap renewable energy. Prime example is the not so well to do country of Nepal. Small market but 85% of cars sold there are evs. Fuel is expensive due to 70% fuel tax . EV tax is just 10%. The country is mostly powered by hydroelectricity as well. So it's the perfect market for ev adoption.
