@crosslink1493 Just went to my regular home appliances shop to buy a new fridge. Specifically asked for a Mutsubishi like my old one. Salesperson said they no longer carry the brand. In fact they no longer carry any Japanese fridge brands. Now mostly Chinese ones like Hisense or Midea or Haier. He recomnended Hisense based on favorable feedback and reviews from his customers. He said he's getting less and less Japanese home appliance brands as many have stopped production. Now mostly Chinese or Korean Samsung and LG. The only thing Japanese in his shop is the Sony wide screen TV. Just read a news article that the Japanese govt is considering hiring the Chinese rail engineering firm CRRC to build a track less and rubber tyred tram to transport hikers and tourists up the Mt Fuji scenic area.
